To say I was excited is an understatement. It had been 10 years since we have seen each other. Well, 10.5 to be exact.
She moved to my high school midyear and I immediately took a liking to her. She was as obsessed with Nine Inch Nails as I was and wore nothing but black in 115 degree Arizona heat. She lived off iced mochas and clove cigarettes. Our birthdays were days apart. We went everywhere together, did everything together. Ditched school. Swooned after boys. Got tattoos. Concerts. Shopping.
Then senior year of high school came and just as quickly, it went. She wanted to move to New York to be a fashion designer. I wanted to move to California to be a photographer. Life is amazing in the ways in which it separates us… and all this time later, unites us.
On Saturday I spent the evening celebrating Baylee’s 30th birthday with her in Carlsbad. Of course life had its way in maturing our worlds after 10 years. She now likes football and I have a daughter… but for the most part it was as if we hadn’t skipped a beat.
I am so blessed to have you in my life again girl! You’re amazing and fabulous as ever! Happy 30th!
